Q. What happens during the first visit?

I’ll check your temperature and ask how you’re doing before we go over the forms you filled out before you came in. Afterward that, I’ll begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you’d like worked on, what your goals for massage are, if there are any conditions that need to be addressed, and lifestyle factors that may be affecting how you’re feeling. After that I may perform certain assessments and testing to evaluate your condition before getting to the hands-on table work. Once we finish the table work, we’ll go over what you experienced and my findings to create some mindful movements for you to practice at home and in the world.

Q. Do I have to get fully undressed?

Not if you don’t want to! You can undress to your own comfort level. I’m confident that excellent work will happen, no matter what you choose to wear on the table.

Q. What kind of movement work will we do?

It will be a combination of movements we explore both on the table and in our post-massage conversation. Sometimes it will be passive stretching on the table. Or it might be an muscle group I ask you to activate through movement. It could be another approach or intention for the movements you already explore in your life. Or it can be an exercise or yoga asana sequence to practice outside the treatment room before we meet next time. Ultimately, it will depend on what’s going on that day, what your therapeutic goals are, and it will always be sensitive to your individual lifestyle.

Q. Will I be undressed for the movement work?

On the table, I use a drape to establish where we will be working so only that region is bare. Plus, you will only ever be undressed to the degree you’re comfortable with. Agency!

Off the table, you will be fully clothed and I may ask you to bring loose, comfortable clothes to practice in if your work involves more active motion or explores range. Often, the off-table movements are subtle enough for most to explore in the clothes they came in with.

Q. Am I allowed to speak during the session?

Yes! Please speak up during our work and tell me if something needs to change, stop, pause, move on, or stay put. Sometimes it can feel awkward (especially when you’re face-down and kind of restful on a massage table!) but use your voice and exercise your agency so that you get the most out of your treatment.

Q. How long is a session?

There are 60 min, 75 min and 90 min and 2 hour sessions available.

The first time we work together will be either a 75 min or 90 min session.

Q. What are your rates?

  • 60 min- $150

  • 75 min- $175

  • 90 min- $225

  • 120 min- $300

Q. Do you have a sliding scale payment option?

I have a limited amount of sliding scale sessions available per month for Black people, Indigenous people, AAPI, Communities of Color, folks who are Trans, NB, Queer, and for those financially impacted by the global pandemic.
